Atoms are indivisible particles. Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed. The atoms of an element are alike in all respects and differ from atoms of other elements.

Atoms are divisible into sub-atomic particles such as protons, neutrons, and electrons. Atoms can be created and destroyed by nuclear fusion and fission.
